3. Auckland Debating Society’s How to Debate online training video

In early 2009 the Society wrote and recorded a brief introduction to 3v3 debating. The resulting production has since been shown to debaters everywhere and copies were sent to every school in Auckland. If reading isn’t your thing then sit back and watch our brief introduction below.

4. Tim Sonnreich’s Guide to Debating (Monash University)

Tim Sonnreich is one of the best debaters to come out of Monash University (or in fact Australia) in recent years. His 40 page guide to debating is an excellent, informative introduction that is easily read during a spare hour or two. This is a must-read for anyone who is serious about improving their debating ability.

5. The Debating Bible

This mammoth 200 plus page book contains everything you needed to know about debating and then half the stuff you never needed to know. With entire sections dedicated to small aspects of debating, it is the perfect ‘reference book’ for an aspiring debater. Perhaps not worth reading cover-to-cover, this book is useful to turn to whenever there is a specific aspect of debating you want to know more about.
