Come to Debsoc this week!

Hi all,

1. Debating This Thursday
Debsoc this Thursday will be in Stone Lecture Theatre. A regular Pro Debate will start at 6pm. General Debates for all members (or AUBPO Round #7 for those participating) will have their topic announced at 7:15pm. As always, please arrive and sign up before 6:45pm if you wish to debate!

2. Law/Staff Student Debate
Is tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6pm in Stone. More details here.

3. AUBPO Results to Date:
Could all teams please check the team results up to the end of Round 6 on this page and make sure their results are accurate. A score of 0,1,2 or 3 means your team did debate together that week and that is your mark. If you have an N/A it means you and your partner did not debate together! Please check we have got the correct scores for debates and that we haven’t recorded you as N/A if you did debate that week. I have all the marksheets still so it will be easier to check!

4. AUBPO Catch Up Debates
This week is the final Thursday round for AUBPO (Round #7)! From here we will move to a series of final debates. To be considered for these rounds you must have attended five debates with your partner. We will be having limited Catch Up debates for any team who is just short next Wednesday night (14 October). If your team wants to have a catch up debate please email us by the end of this week! If you want to catch up but can’t make that night, please also email. If there is enough demand we will have a second catch up night!

Casual Fridays

5. Prizes
We are still allocating a random prize every Thursday to the best speaker in each room. There will also be super good prizes for the overall winners, so do keep coming along. Sadly my laptop is in for repair at the moment, but a full list of current prizewinners will be in our next mailout!

6. NZ National BP Champs
The NZ BP Champs take place next month on 21/22 November in Wellington. The competition is open entry – so ANYONE can attend. Better yet, you get to select your own team! Auckland Debsoc always sends a large contingent along and we expect at least 25-30 of us will make it down this time too. More details can be found here. It’s going to be an excellent way to finish the year, so we encourage everyone to think about attending!

If you wish to attend BP, please email us back with the name of your partner and we’ll handle registration for you and send you more details as we get it.
